Պարսիկները[1] Իրանի ժողովուրդների մի մասն են[2] ովքեր խոսում են ժամանակակից Պարսկերեն լեզվով,[3] որը սերտորեն կապված է իրանցիների բարբառներին և լեզուներին:[4][5] Պարսիկները սկիզբ են առել Անտիկ Իրանցիներից, որոնք անտիկ Հնդկա-իրանցիների մաս են կազմում և դրանով Հնդ-Եվրոպական մեծ լինգվիստիկ ընտանիքի մաս: Իրանական և Պարսկական սինոնիմների օգտագործումը դարերով շարունակվում է, չնայած որոշ ժամանակակից արևմտյան աղբյուրներ օգտագործում են իրանական որպես ավելի տարածված տերմին, որը ներառում էինչպես պարսկական տերմինը, այնպես էլ իրանական լեզուները և էթնիկ խմբերը:
