Էտել Ադնան (արաբ․՝ إيتيل عدنان‎‎, փետրվարի 24, 1925(1925-02-24)[2][3][4][…], Բեյրութ, Լիբանան[5][6] - նոյեմբերի 14, 2021(2021-11-14)[7][8][5][…], Փարիզի 6-րդ շրջան, Փարիզ, Ֆրանսիա[9][10]), լիբանանաբնակ ամերիկացի բանաստեղծ, էսսեիստ և վիզուալ նկարիչ։ 2003 թվականին Ադնանը «Միացյալ Նահանգների բազմազգ գրականության ուսումնասիրության ընկերության» (MELUS) կողմից ճանաչվել է որպես «ամենահայտնի և կայացած արաբ ամերիկացի գրող»[12]։Բացի իր գրական գործունեությունից, Ադնանը ստեղծել է տեսողական գործեր տարբեր ժանրերում, ինչպիսիք են յուղաներկերը, կինոնկարները և գոբելենները, որոնք ցուցադրվում էին աշխարհի պատկերասրահներում։

Կյանք

Էտել Ադնանը ծնվել է 1925 թվականին Բեյրութում[13][14]։ Ադնանի մայրը՝ հույն ուղղափառ էր, իսկ հայրը՝ Ասաֆ Քադրին, թուրք էր և օսմանցի բարձրաստիճան սպա՝ ծնված Դամասկոսում։ Ասաֆ Քադրիի մայրը ալբանացի էր[15]։ Ադնանի պապը թուրք զինվոր էր[16][17]։ Նրա հայրը հարուստ ընտանիքից էր. նա եղել է բարձրագույն սպա և Մուստաֆա Քեմալ Աթաթուրքի նախկին դասընկերը ռազմական ակադեմիայում[17]։ Ի հակադրություն, Ադնանի մայրը մեծացել է ծայրահեղ աղքատության մեջ. նրա ծնողները ծանոթացել են Առաջին համաշխարհային պատերազմի ժամանակ[18]։ Օսմանյան կայսրության փլուզումից հետո Ադնանի ծնողները գաղթել են Բեյրութ։ Ադնանը հայտարարել է, որ իր մայրը 16 տարեկան է եղել, երբ հանդիպել է հորը[19][20]։

Թեև նա մեծացել է հիմնականում արաբախոս հասարակության մեջ, խոսելով հունարեն և թուրքերեն՝ նա կրթություն է ստացել ֆրանսիական միաբանության դպրոցներում, և ֆրանսերենը դարձել է լեզուն, որով առաջին անգամ գրվել են նրա վաղ շրջանի աշխատանքները[21]։ Նա նաև անգլերեն է սովորել իր պատանեկության տարիներին, և նրա հետագա աշխատանքների մեծ մասն առաջին անգամ գրվել են անգլերենով։

24 տարեկանում Ադնանը մեկնել է Փարիզ, որտեղ ստացել է փիլիսոփայի աստիճան Փարիզի համալսարանից[22]։ Այնուհետև նա մեկնել է Միացյալ Նահանգներ, որտեղ շարունակել է ասպիրանտուրան Կալիֆորնիայի Բերքլիի, և Հարվարդի համալսարանում[22]։ 1958-1972 թվականներին եղել է Սան Ռաֆել քաղաքի Դոմինիկյան համալսարանի էսթետիկայի պրոֆեսոր[23][22]։ Նա նաև դասախոսել է Միացյալ Նահանգների բազմաթիվ համալսարաններում։

Ադնանը ԱՄՆ-ից վերադարձել է Լիբանան և որպես լրագրող և մշակութային խմբագիր աշխատել է Բեյրութում ֆրանսալեզու «Al Safa» թերթում։ Բացի այդ, նա նաև օգնել է թերթի մշակութային բաժնի ստեղծմանը, ժամանակ առ ժամանակ ստեղծելով ծաղրանկարներ և նկարազարդումներ։ «Al Safa» թերթում առավել ուշագրավ էին նրա գլխավոր խմբագրական հոդվածները, որոնք մեկնաբանում էին օրվա կարևոր քաղաքական խնդիրները[24]։

Ադնանն ապրել է Փարիզում և Կալիֆոռնիայի Սոսալիտո քաղաքում[25]։ Նա մահացել է Փարիզում 2021 թվականի նոյեմբերի 14-ին, 96 տարեկան հասակում[26][27]։

Ամերիկացի կինոռեժիսոր Մարի Վալենտին Ռեգանի կողմից Ադնանի կյանքի մասին վավերագրական ֆիլմը նկարչի հետ համագործակցությամբ սկսել է արտադրվել 2023 թվականին «նրա կյանքի վերջին հինգ տարիների» մասին[28]։

Կերպարվեստ

Ադնանը նաև աշխատել է որպես նկարիչ, նրա ամենավաղ աբստրակտ աշխատանքները ստեղծվել են ներկապնակի դանակով։ Կոմպոզիցիաների ուշադրության կենտրոնում հաճախ կարմիր քառակուսին էր, նրան հետաքրքրում էր «գույնի անմիջական գեղեցկությունը»[29][30]։ 2012 թվականին նկարչի վառ գույներով աբստրակտ նկարների շարքը ցուցադրվել է որպես «documenta 13»-ի մաս Գերմանիայի Կասել քաղաքում[31]։

1960-ականներին նա սկսել է ինտեգրել արաբական գեղագրությունը իր ստեղծագործությունների և իր գրքերի մեջ[32]։

2014 թվականին նկարչի նկարների և գոբելենների հավաքածուն ցուցադրվել է Ամերիկյան արվեստի Ուիթնի թանգարանում[33]:
