We feelthat we can convey to the uninitiated but a pale shadow of the thing we know so well, but wehope that those who know and understand will piece out our imperfections with theirthoughts. HE editors decided, early in their career as editors, that all the college jokes and jests had long since been run into the ground and that no more fun could be squeezed outof them. So they came to the conclusion that they would edit a serious, sober Mortar-hoard, full of big ideas and firm writing.
