Շախմատում առաջին քայլի առավելությունը հատուկ է առաջին քայլը կատարող խաղացողին (սովորաբար առաջին քայլը կատարում են սպիտակները)։ Շախմատիստները և շախմատի տեսաբանները հիմնականում համամիտ են, որ շախմատում առաջին քայլը խաղացողին տալիս է որոշակի առավելություն։ Այս տեսակետն է ցույց տալիս նաև 1851 թվականից սկսած շախմատային խաղերի ամբողջական վիճակագրությունը, ըստ որի՝ սպիտակները մի փոքր ավելի շատ են հաղթում, քան սևերը՝ տոկոսային հարաբերությունը կազմում է 52 և 56 տոկոս։ Սպիտակների ընդհանուր հաղթանակների տոկոսը[Ն 1] մոտավորապես հավասար է մարդու և համակարգչի միջև անցկացված խաղերի տոկոսին։ Այնուամենայնիվ արագ շախմատում կամ սկսնակների համար սպիտակների առավելությունը աննշան է։

1946 թվականին Ու.Ֆ.Սթրիթերը համեմատեց 1851-1932 թվականներին անցկացված 45 միջազգային մրցաշարերում խաղացված 5,598 խաղերի արդյունքները[2]։ Սթրիթերը գտավ, որ սպիտակներ ընդհանուր հաղթանակների տոկոսը կազմում 53.4% (Հ-38.12, Խ-30.56; Պ-31.31)[Ն 2]։ 1851–1878 թվականներին՝ 52.55% (Հ-45.52, Խ-14.07, Պ-40.41), 1881–1914 թվականներին՝ 52.77% (Հ-36.89, Խ-31.76, Պ-31.35), 1919–1932 թվականներին՝ 55.47% (Հ-36.98, Խ-36.98, Պ-26.04)[2]։ Սթրիթերը եզրակացրեց, որ «Գնալով ավելի ու ավելի դժվար է դառնում հաղթել սևերով, սակայն փոքր-ինչ ավելի հեշտ է դառնում խաղը ավարտել ոչ-ոքի արդյունքով»[2][Ն 3]։

New In Chess ամսագիրը 2000 թվականի տարեգրքում, հիմնվելով 731.740 խաղերի արդյունքների վրա, եզրակացնում է, որ երկու ամենատարածված սկզբնախաղերի դեպքում սպիտակների ընդհանուր հաղթանակի տոկոսը հավասար է 54.8%-ի. 1.e4-ով սկսվող 349,855 խաղերում՝ 54.1%, 1.d4-ով սկսվող 145.996 խաղերում՝ 52.3%: 1.e4-ի պակաս արդյունավետության պատճառը Սիցիլիական պաշտպանությունն է (1.e4 c5), որը 145,996 խաղերում սպիտակներին հանգեցնում է 52.3% արդյունքի[8]։

Այլ գրողներ եզրակացրել են, որ խաղացողների վարկանիշների և սպիտակների ընդհանուր հաղթանակի տոկոսի միջև դրական կոռելյացիա կա։ Ըստ գրոսմայստեր Եվգենի Սվեշնիկովի, վիճակագրությունը ցույց է տալիս, որ սկսնակների միջև խաղերում սպիտակները չունեն առավելություն, բայց «եթե խաղացողները ավելի ուժեղ են, սպիտակները առաջնորդում են խաղը»[9]։ ChessBase's Mega 2003-ի տվյալների բազայի հիման վրա Անդրաշ Ադորյանի՝ մոտ Էլո վարկանիշ ունեցող խաղացողների խաղերի հետազոտությունները ցույց են տալիս, որ խաղացողների Էլո ցուցանշի մեծացման հետ զուգահեռ մեծանում է ոչ-ոքիների, փոքրանում է և՛ սպիտակների, և՛ սևերի հաղթանակի տոկոսը[10]։ Օրինակ՝ 2700 և պակաս Էլո վարկանիշ ունեցող շախմատիստների խաղացած 1669 խաղերի արդյունքը եղել է՝ սպիտակներ՝ 26.5%, ոչ-ոքի՝ 58.4%, սևեր՝ 15.2% (սիտակների ընդհանուր հաղթանակի տոկոսը՝ 55.7), մինչդեռ 2100 և պակաս Էլո վարկանիշ ունեցող շախմատիստների խաղացած 34,924 պաղերի արդյունքները եղել են՝ սպիտակներ՝ 37%, ոչ-ոքի՝ 32.1%, սևեր՝ 30.8% (սիտակների ընդհանուր հաղթանակի տոկոսը՝ 53.1)[11]։ 1886-1990 թվականներին շախմատի աշխարհի առաջնության ընթացքում խաղացված 755 խաղերի արդյունքներն են՝ սպիտակներ՝ 234 խաղ (31.0%), ոչ-ոքի՝ 397 խաղ (52.6%), սևերը՝ 124 խաղ (16.4%) (սպիտակների հաղթանակի ընդհանուր տոկոսը՝ 57.3)[12]։ Ադորյանի հետազոտության վերջին 5 մրցաշարերը խաղացել են Գարի Կասպարովը և Անատոլի Կարպովը, արդյունքում՝ սպիտակները հաղթել են 31 խաղում (25.8%), ոչ-ոքի՝ 80 խաղ (66.7%)․ սևեր՝ 9 խաղ (7.5%) (սպիտակների հաղթանակի ընդհանուր տոկոսը՝ 59.2)[13]

Համակարգչային շախմատի Մեծ մրցարշարը փորձարկում է շախմատային շարժիչներին՝ յուրաքանչյուր խաղացողին 120 րոպե 40 քայլ անելու համար (40/120) և 40/20, 40/4 ժամանակային վերահսկողությամբ խաղացնելով միմիայանց դեմ։ Հետազոտելով այս խաղերի արդյունքում ստացված տվյալները՝ պարզվեց, որ 2009 թվականի մայիսի 27-ի տվյալներով աշխարհի ամենաուժեղ 38 շախմատային շարժիչների միջև անցկացված խաղերում ամենացածր ժամանակային վերահսկողության (40/120) դեպքում սպիտակները վաստակում են 55.4% (Հ34.7 Խ41.3 Պ24.0)[14]: 40/20 ժամանակային վերահսկողությամբ 284 շախմատային շարժիչների խաղերի արդյունքում՝ 54.6% (Հ37.0 Խ35.2 Պ27.8) (2009 մայիսի 24)[15]։ 40/4 ժամանակային վերահսկողությամբ 128 շախմատային շարժիչների խաղերի արդյունքում՝ 54.8% (Հ39.6 Խ30.5 Պ30.0) (2009 մայիսի 24)[16]։

Ոչ-ոքի՝ լավագույն խաղի դեպքում

Եվգենի Սվեշնիկով, ով 1994 թվականին պնդում էր, որ սպիտակները պետք է խաղան հաղթելու մինչդեռ սևերը ոչ-ոքիի համար:

Ջոզեֆ Բարտինը իր 1735 թվականի ձեռնարկում գրում է․ «Նա, ով առաջինն է խաղում, հասկանում է, որ գրոհում է»[17]։ Սա համահունչ է այն ավանդական տեսակետին, թե սպիտակներ, առաջին քայլի շնորհիվ, սկսում են նախաձեռնությունը և պետք է փորձեն այն ընդլայնել միջնախաղում, մինջդեռ սևերը պետք է փորձեն չեզոքացնել սպիտակների առավելությունը և հասնեն հավասարության[18][19][20]։ Քանի որ սպիտակները սկսում են խաղը նախաձեռնությամբ, սպիտակների կողմից փոքր սխալը հիմնականում հանեգեցնում է նախաձեռնության կորստի, մինջդեռ սևերի կողմից նման սխալը ունենում է ավելի լուրջ հետևանքներ[21][22]։ Այսպիսով, 1994 թվականին Սվեշնիկովը գրում է․ «Սևերով խաղացողները չեն կարող իրենց նույնիսկ ամենափոքր սխալ թուլ տալ ․․․․ տեսականորեն շախմատում սպիտակների և սևերի խնդիրները տարբեր են․ սպիտակները պետք է հաղթանակի ձգտեն, սևերը՝ ոչ-ոքիի»[23]։

Շախմատային տեսաբանները երկար քննարկել են սպիտակների նախաձեռնության տևականության և կատարյալ խաղի դեպքում հնարավոր ելքերի մասին։ Ջորջ Ուոքերը 1846 թվականին գրում է․ «Առաջին քայլը առավելություն է, ․․․․ բայց, եթե ճիշտն ասենք, առաջին քայլը սակավարժեք է»[24]: Վիլհելմ Ստեյնիցը (աշխարհի առաջին չեմպիոն), ով համարվում է ժամանակակից շախմատի հայրը[25][26][27], 1889 թվականին գրում է․ «Հիմա բոլոր փորձագետները ընդունում են, որ երկու կողմերի պատշաճ խաղի դեպքում խաղը իրավաչափ ելքը պետք է ոչ-ոքին լինի»[28]: Լասկերն ու Կապաբլանական՝ աշխարհի երկրորդ և երրորդ չեմպիոնները, համաձայնվել են Ստեյնիցի հետ[29][30][31]։ Ռեուբեն Ֆայնը՝ 1936-1951 թվականներին աշխարհի առաջատար շախմատիստներից մեկը[32], պնդում էր, որ սկզբնախաղում սպիտակների առավելությունը չափազանց աննշան է և առանց սևերի սխալի չի կարող հանգեցնել հաղթանակի[33]։

Այն տեսակետը, թե լավագույն խաղի դեպքում արդունքը ոչ-ոքի կլինի գերիշխում է։ Չնայած նրան, որ այս ենթադրությւոնը չի կարող ապացուցվել, Ռոուսոնը այն համարում է «ապահով» իսկ Ադորյանիը՝ «տրամաբանական»[34][35]։ Ուատսոնը հմաձայնվել է, որ «Կատարյալ խաղի դեպքում արդյունքը․․․․ ոչ-ոքի է ․․․․ իհարկե ես չեմ կարող սա ապացուցել, բայց ես կասկածում եմ, որ դուք կարող եք գեթ մեկ ուժեղ խաղացող գտնել, ով չի համաձայնվի։ ․․․․ Ես հիշում եմ, որ Կասպարովը վերջին տուրի ոչ-ոքիից հետո բացատրության սպասող լրագրոներին ասաց․ «Լավ, շախմատը ոչ-ոքի է»»[36]։ Աշխարհի չեմպիոն Բոբի Ֆիշերը գրեթե նույն տեսակետն է հայտնել[37][38]։

Լասկերն ու Կապաբլանկան մտահոգություն են հայտնել, որ շախմատը կդառնա «ոչ-ոքի մահ», քանի որ բարձ մակարդակի շախմատիստները ավելի ու ավելի են ոչ-ոքի խաղում[39][40]։ Ֆիշերը համաձայնվել է՝ ասելով, որ շախմատը սպառել է իրեն[41]: Երեքն էլ առաջարկում էին փոխել շախմատի կանոնները՝ ոչ-ոքիների քանակը նվազեցնելու համար։ Լասկերն առաջարկել է ոչ-ոքին գնահատել կես միավորից քիչ, իսկ հակառակորդի արքային պատի մեջ դնելու ամար կես միավորից ավել[39]։ Կապաբլանկան 1920-ականներին ներկայացրել է կապաբլանկայի շախմատը՝ ավելի մեծ դաշտով և հավելյալ քարերով շախմատի տարբերակ[42]։ Ֆիշերn առաջարկել է շախմատ-960-ը, շախմատի մեկայլ տարբերակ, որտեղ խաղաքարերի նախնական դիրքը պատահական է որոշվում[43][44]։

Այսօր որոշ ամենասուր սկղբնախաղեր վերլուծվել են այնքան խորը, որ սկսել են օգտագործվել որպես ոչ-ոքիի զենք։ Օրինակ՝ ամենաբարձր մակարդակներում սևերը հաճախ օգտագործում են իսպանական սկզբնախաղի մարշալյան հարձակումը՝ սկզբնախաղի տարբերակ, որտեղ սևերը զոհաբերում են զինվոր՝ ձեռք բերոլով վերջնախաղ, որտեղ սպիտակները ունեն մի զինվորի առավելություն, բայց սևերի ճիշտ խաղի դեպքում խաղն ավարտվում է ոչ-ոքի արդյունքով[45][46][47][48]։

2007 թվականին գրոսմայստերներ Ատանաս Կոլեվն ու Կիրիլլ Գեորգրը պնդում էին, որ հիմնականում նույնը կարելի է ասել Նայդորֆի Սիցիլիականում թունավորված զինվորի տարբերակում, որն առաջանում է 1.e4 c5 2.Ձf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Ձxd4 Ձf6 5.Ձc3 a6 6.Փg5 e6 7.f4 Թb6!: Վաղուց սա համարվում է ամենասուր, ամենախնդրահարույց[49][50] կամ նույնիսկ անխոհեմ սկզբնախաերից մեկը[51][52][53]։ Խաղի շարունակությունը հիմնականում լինում է՝ 8.Թd2 Թxb2 9.Նb1 Թa3[54]: Գեորգիևն ու Կոլեվը հայտարարել են, որ 6.Փg5 քայլը ամենաբարձր մակարդակում հազվադեպ է խաղացվում, քանի որ այս սկզբնախաղի հիմանական տարբերակի լավագույն խաղի դեպքում ստացվում է ոչ-ոքի՝ հավերժական պատով[55]։ Ըստ նրանց՝ հետևյալ խաղը «հավանաբար սա տեսության վերջին խոսքը կմնա»[56]։

Սակայն, 6.Փg5 քայլի հանդեպ Գեորգիևի և Կոլեվի հոռետեսական գնահատականները հարցականի տակ են դրվել, քանի որ հետագայի մի քանի բարձ մակարդակի խաղերում սպիտակները հաջողության են հասել 10.e5 քայլով (մեկ այլ քննադատված տարբերակ)[59][60]։ Գրոսմայստեր Զավեն Անդրիասյանը 2013 թվականին գրում է, որ 10.f5 քայլիը հանգեցնում է «ստիպողական ոչ-ոքիի», բայց 10.e5 քայլից հետո «մենք ստանում ենք սուր իրավիճակ՝ երկկողմանի հնարավորություններով»[61]։

1.e4 քայլից հետո «Սպիտակները պարտավոր են հաղթել» ըստ Ադամսի։

Չնայած նրան, որ այս տեսակը շատ տարածված չէ, քսաներորդ դարի երեք ականավոր վարպետները պնդում էին, որ սպիտակների առավելությունը պետք է կամ կարող է վճռորոշ լինել կատարյալ խաղի դեպքում։ Ամերիկյան առաջատար վարպետներից[62] Վիվեր Ադամսը այս տեսակետի ամենահայտնի կողմնակիցներից մեկն է, ինչի մասին նա ներկայացրել է 1939 թվականի իր «White to Play and Win» գրքում[63] և շարունակել է մեկնաբանել իր հետագա գրքերում և հոդվածներում մինչև իր մահը (1963 թվական)[64]։

Ադամսը կարծում էր, որ 1.e4-ը սպիտակների ամենաուժեղ քայլն է[65], և եթե դրանից հետո երկու կողմն էլ կատարյալ խաղան, «Սպիտակները պարտավոր են հաղթել»[66]։ Այս տեսակետը շատ է քննադատվել[67][68][69]։ Ադամսին չհաջողվեց իր տեսության ճշմատացիությունն ապացուցել մրցույթների և խաղերի պրակիտիկայով։ Իր գրքի հրատարակումից մեկ տարի անց՝ 1940 թվականի ԱՄՆ բաց առաջնությունում, նա սպիտակներով խաղացված չորս խաղից վաստակեց միայն մեկ ոչ-ոքի, բայց կարողացավ հաղթել սևերով խաղացված բոլոր չորս խաղերը[70]։

1.d4 քայլից հետո Հանս Բեռլիները կարծում էր, որ սպիտակները ստանում են հաղթանակի առավելություն։

Վերջերս նամակագրական շախմատի աշխարհի նախկին չեմպիոն ՄՎ Հանս Բեռլիները իր 1999 թվականի «The System» գրքում պնդում էր, որ 1.d4 քայլը սպիտակներին տալիս է մեծ, և գուցե վճռորոշ, առավելություն։ Բեռլիները հավաստիացնում էր, որ կատարյալ խաղում սպիտակները հաղթում են Գրյունֆելդի պաշտպանության, Ժամանակակից Բոնոնիի, Բենկոյի գամբիթի և ուրիշ (անանուն) «հիմնական պաշտշանությունների» դեմ[72]: Սակայն նա ասել է, որ «Հնարավոր է, որ շախմատի կանոններն այնպիսին են, որ 1.d4 քայլի դեմ միայն մի քանի ճշմարտանման երևացող պաշտպանություններ կան, որ կարող են հերքվել»[73]։ Բեռլիները գրել է, որ Ադամսի «տեսությունները, չնայած լավագույն խաղացողների մեծ մասը արհամարհանքին, ինձ վրա տևական և ուղղակի ազդեցություն են ունեցել։ Վիվեր Վ․ Ադամսը իմ ճանաչած մարդկանցից առաջին է, ով, ըստ էության, շախմատ խաղալու մասինն տեսություններ է մշակել»[67]։

Բեռլիների տեսությունները, ինչպես Ադամսինը, ենթարկվել են խիստ քննադատության[74][75][76][77]:

Ժամանակակից պատկեր

Ինչպես պարզաբանվում է ներքևում, շախմատային տեսաբանները վերջին տասնամյակների ընթացքում շարունակում են քննարկել սպիտակների առավելության չափն ու բնույթը։ Բեռլիներին չհաշված, նրանք մերժել են այն միտքը, թե սպիտակները հաղթում են առաջին քայլից։ Շատերը նաև մերժում են ավանդական պարադիգմը, թե սևերը նպատակը պետք է սպիտակների նախաձռնությունը ձեզոքացնելն ու հավասարություն ստանալը լինի։

Սպիտակները ունեն շարունակական առավելություն

2004 թվականին գրոսմայստեր Լարի Կաուֆմանը արտահայտել է տեսակետ, ըստ որի խաղի ընթացքը որոշելու կարողություն միշտ կարող է հանգեցնել վերջնախաղում որոշակի առավելության, չնայած պարտադիր չէ, որ այդ առավելություն որոշիչ լինի։ Կուֆմանը գրում է՝ «Ես չեմ հավատում, որ սպիտակները կարող է անխուսափելիորեն հաղթել։ Ես, այնուամենայնիվ, հավատում եմ, որ 1.e4 կամ 1.d4 քայլերով սպիտակները պետք է կարողնան որոշակի առավելություն ստանալ, որը կտևի մինչև վերջնախաղ։ Եթե շախմատը գնահատվեր բռնցքամարտ նման՝ չորոշվածը խաղը տրվեր որոշակի համակարգով տրվեր մասնակցին (եթե տրվեր), որը «ամենամոտն» է եղել հաղթանակին, ուրեմն ես հավատում եմ, որ տեսականորեն սպիտակները անշուշտ կունենային անխուսափելի հաղթանակի հնարավրություն»[78]

Սկսած 1988 թվականից Ադորյանը մի շարք գրքերում և ամսագրային հոդվածներում պնդում է, որ սևերի հետ ամեն ինչ նորմալ է[79][80]: Ադորյանը պնդում էր, որ սպիտակները սկսում են խաղը, ըստ էության, առանց առավելության։ Նա գրում է․ «Իմ կարծիքով սպիտակների միակ ակնհայտ առավելությունն այն է, որ եթե նրանք խաղում են ոչ-ոքիի համար, և լավ են խաղում, ապա սևերը դժվար թե առանց ակնհայտ ռիսկի գնալու կարողանան խուսափել ոչ-ոքիից»[81]։ Ըստ Ադորյանի՝ «Սպիտակների առավելության մասին հեքիաթը մոլորություն է․ դրա հավատը հիմնված է մասսայական փսիխոզի վրա»[82]։ Ռոուսոնը գրում է, որ Ադորյանի «վեճը վերջին տասնամյակների ամենակարևոր շախմատային մտքերից է ․․․․ որովհետև այն տեղից շարժեց մեր այն երթադրությունները, թե սպիտակները սկսում են խաղը որոշ առավելությամբ և բացահայտեց դրանց գաղափարական բնույթը»[83]։ Սակայն Ռոուսոնը մերժում է Ադորյանի այն տեսակետը, թե սպիտակները ըստ էության չունեն ոչ մի առավելություն, պաճառաբանելով, որ «սպիտակն ավելի լավ է» և «սևերի հետ ամեն ինչ նորմալ է» պնդումներն իրարամերժ են[84]։։

Ադորյանի գրքերից մեկում գրոսմայստեր Լայոշ Պորտիշը կարծիք է հայտնել, թե «Բոլոր «փորձարկված» սկզբնախաղերից առնվազն երկու երրորդում սպիտակները ստանում են ակնհայտ առավելություն»։ Ըստ Պորտիշի՝ սպիտակների համար «խնդիրն այն է, որ շատ քչերը գիտեն, թե որ սկզբնախաղերն են իսկապես լավ սևերի համար։ Նրանք, ովքեր գտել են այս տարբերակները, վախենալու պատճառ չունեն, քանի որ «սևերը, անշուշտ, լավ են», բայց միայն այս տարբերակներում»[85]։
