Ֆրանսիացիներ, (ֆր.՝ Français) ազգ, Ֆրանսիայի հիմնական բնակչությունը։ Ֆրանսիացիների մայրենի լեզուն համարվում է ֆրանսերենը, որը պատկանում է հնդեվրոպական լեզվաընտանիքին։ Ֆրանսիացիների թիվը աշխարհում կազմում է ավելի քան 110 մլն.։

Ֆրանսիայից դուրս ֆրանսիացիների հիմնական խմբերը բնակվում են Ֆրանսիայի նախկին գաղութներում (Ալժիր, Թունիս, Մարոկկո, Ռեյունյոն, Մադագասկար), ինչպես նաև ԱՄՆ–ում և Կանադայում։ Կանադայում, չհաշված ֆրանսիացի-վտարանդիներին, բնակվում են 8,1 մլն ֆրանկոկանադացիներ (առանձին ժողովուրդ է), որոնք XVII–XVIII դարերի գաղութարարների հետնորդներն են։ Խոսում են ֆրանսերեն։ Հավատացյալներն առավելապես կաթոլիկներ են, մասամբ՝ բողոքականներ (կալվինականներ)։ Ֆրանսիացիների ձևավորման մեջ հիմնական տարրերը եղել են մ․ թ․ ա․ I հազարամյակում այժմյան Ֆրանսիայի հարավում բնակվող կելտական ցեղերը, որոնց հռոմեացիներն անվանել են գալլեր։ Հռոմեացիներից Գալիայի նվաճման (մ․ թ․ ա․ III դարի վերջ – մ․ թ․ ա․ I դարի կես) հետևանքով բնակչությունը ռոմանականացվել է։ Հռոմեացիների երկարատև տիրապետության և գալլերի հետ մշակութային շփման հետևանքով առաջացել է գալլա–հռոմեական ժողովուրդը, որի խոսակցական լեզուն դարձել է «ժողովրդական լատիներենը»։ Ֆրանսիացիների էթնիկական պատմության մեջ կարևոր դեր են խաղացել V դարում Գալիա ներխուժած գերմանական ցեղերը (վեստգոթեր, բուրգունդներ, ֆրանկներ)։

Ֆրանսիական ազգի ձևավորման մեջ վճռական խթան են եղել Ֆրանսիական մեծ հեղափոխությունը և դրան նախորդած Լուսավորականության դարաշրջանը։ Շ․ Լ․ Մոնտեսքյոյի, Վոլտերի, Դենի Դիդրոյի, Ժան-Ժակ Ռուսոյի և ուրիշ լուսավորիչների փիլիսոփայությունը, ֆրանսիական դասական գրականությունը խորապես նպաստել են ծայրագավառներում ֆրանսիական գրական լեզվի տարածմանը։ Վարչական, դպրոցական կյանքի և այլ բնագավառներում կատարած հեղափոխական բարեփոխումները նպաստել են նահանգային տարբերությունների վերացմանը, ինչպես նաև հյուսիսֆրանսիական և պրովանսալական ժողովուրդների ձուլմանը միասնական ազգի մեջ։ Ֆրանսիացիների միջև ազգային մշակույթի համահարթեցման արդի պայմաններում դեռևս գոյություն ունի որոշակի պատմական նահանգի պատկանելության (նորմանդացիներ, բուրգունդցիներ, գասկոնացիներ և այլն) գիտակցությունը՝ նրանց մշակույթի ու կենցաղի տեղային, ավանդական յուրահատկություններով։
