Ռոզա Սմիթ Այգենման (անգլ.՝ Rosa Smith Eigenmann, հոկտեմբերի 7, 1858(1858-10-07)[1][2], Մոնմաուֆ, Իլինոյս, ԱՄՆ[3] - հունվարի 12, 1947(1947-01-12)[4][5][6], Սան Դիեգո, Կալիֆոռնիա, ԱՄՆ[7]), ամերիկացի գիտնական, եղել է առաջին կին ձկնաբանն ԱՄՆ-ում։ Ձկնաբան Կառլ Այգենմանի կինը։ 1880-1893 թվականներին հրատարակել է 12 ինքնուրույն աշխատանք, ինչպես նաև աշխատել է այլ գրքերի վրա ամուսնու հետ համահեղինակությամբ։ Նրանք նկարագրել են մոտ 150 տեսակի ձուկ։

Ռոզա Սմիթը ծնվել է 1858 թվականի հոկտեմբերի 7-ին Իլինոյս նահանգի Մոնմութ քաղաքում, եղելլ է Լուկրեցիա (Գրեյ) և Չարլզ Քենդալ Սմիթներ ինը երեխաներից կրտսերը։ Սմիթի ծնողները, որոնք ծագումով եղել են Վերմոնտից, տեղափոխվել են Իլինոյս՝ սկսելու թերթ հրատարակել։ Չարլզ Քենդալ Սմիթը 1846 թվականին հիմնադրել է Monmouth Atlas-ը, սակայն այն վաճառել է 1857 թվականին։ Ընտանիքի անդամների առողջության նկատառումներով ավելի տաք կլիմա փնտրելով՝ Սմիթները 1876 թվականին տեղափոխվել են Կալիֆոռնիա և բնակություն հաստատել Սան Դիեգոյում[10][11]։

Ռոզա Սմիթը միջնակարգ կրթություն է ստացել Սան Դիեգոյի Փոյնթ Լոմա սեմինարիայում։ Սմիթը նաև մասնակցել է Սան Ֆրանցիսկոյի բիզնես-քոլեջի հինգշաբաթյա դասընթացին, որտեղ եղել է դասարանի երկու կանանցից մեկ (մյուսը եղել է Քեյթ Սեշնսը, որը հետագայում դարձել է այգեպան Սան Դիեգոյում, և հայտնի է դարձել որպես «Բալբոա պարկի մայր»)[12];

Սմիթն ամբողջ կյանքում հետաքրքրվել է բնագիտությամբ։ Նա սկսել է դիտարկել և հավաքել թռչունների և կենդանիների տեսակներ Կալիֆոռնիայում և միացել է 1878 թվականին Սան Դիեգոյի նագիտական միությանը (San Diego Natural History Museum) որպես ասոցացված անդամ։ Սմիթը 1879 թվականին դարձել միության լիիրավ անդամությամբ առաջին կինը, ինչպես նաև 1880-ականների ընթացքում մի քանի տարի ծառայել է որպես գրադարանավար և միության քարտուղար։

Սմիթը ծանոթացել է Դևիդ Սթար Ջորդանի՝ Բլումինգթոնի Ինդիանա նահանգի համալսարանի հայտնի ձկնաբան հետ 1879 թվականին Սան Դիեգո կատարած այցի ընթացքում։ Նրանց առաջին հանդիպման հանգամանքներն անհայտ են, բայց Ջորդանը հավանաբար լսել է, թե ինչպես է Սմիթը կարդում իր հոդվածը Սան Դիեգոյի բնագիտական միության՝ ձկների նոր տեսակի մասին ժողովում[13]։ Մոտավորապես այդ ժամանակ նա հայտնաբերել է Othonops eos կույր տիֆլոգոբիուսին, որն ապրում էր Point Loma թերակղզու տակ գտնվող քարանձավներում։ Ջորդանը տպավորվել է և առաջարկել, որ նա շարունակի ուսումը որպես Ինդիանայի համալսարանի կենդանաբանության իր ուսանողներից մեկը։ Սմիթն ընդունել է Ջորդանի առաջարկը և 1880 թվականի ամառն անցկացրել Ջորդանի և նրա որոշ գործընկերների ու ուսանողների հետ Եվրոպայով ճանապարհորդելով։ Միացյալ Նահանգներ վերադառնալուց հետո նա երկու տարի անցկացրել է Ինդիանայի համալսարանում, նախքան ընտանիքի անդամներից մեկի հիվանդությունը ստիպել է նրան վերադառնալ Սան Դիեգո 1882 թվականին՝ առանց բակալավրի կոչում ստանալու։
