Ատոլ Ֆուգարդ (անգլ.՝ Harold Athol Lanigan Fugard, հունիսի 11, 1932(1932-06-11)[1][2][3], Middelburg, Արևելյան Կապ), հարավաֆրիկյան վիպասան, դրամատուրգ, դերասան, թատրոնի և կինոյի ռեժիսոր[5][6][7]:

Ատոլ Ֆուգարդը ծնվել է 1932 թվականի հունիսի 11-ին Միդելբուրգում։ Հայրը եղել է իռլանդա-բրիտանական-ֆրանսիական ծագմամբ ջազ դաշնակահար[8][9], մայրը՝ աֆրիկացի։ 1935 թվականին ընտանիքը տեղափոխվել է Պորտ Էլիզաբեթ[10]։ 1938 թվականին սկսել է հաճախել Marist Brothers College[11]։ Ատոլ Ֆուգարդը հաճախել է տեխնիկական քոլեջ, այնուհետև սովորել է փիլիսոփայություն և սոցիալական մարդաբանություն Քեյփթաունի համալսարանում[12], որտեղից հեռացվեց 1953 թվականին՝ ավարտական քննություններից մի քանի ամիս առաջ[8]։ Աշխատել է Հյուսիսային Աֆրիկայում, Ասիայում։ 1958 թվականից իր կնոջ՝ գրող Շեյլա Ֆուգարդի հետ ապրել է Յոհանեսբուրգում, որտեղ ծառայել է որպես դպիր, կազմակերպել է թատրոն, որտեղ բեմադրել է սեփական պիեսները։ 1960-ականների սկզբից մասնակցել է ապարտհեյդի դեմ շարժմանը։ Տառապել է ալկոհոլիզմով, 1980-ականներին բուժվել է։ Մի քանի տարի կնոջ հետ ապրել է Սան Դիեգոյում[13], որտեղ դասավանդել է Կալիֆորնիայի համալսարանի թատրոնի և բալետի բաժնում[7][14]։ 2012 թվականին վերադարձել է Հարավային Աֆրիկա[15][16]։

Ֆուգարդը կինոյում[խմբագրել | խմբագրել կոդը]

Գևին Հուդը Ֆուգարդի «Ցոցի» վեպի հիման վրա 2005 թվականին բեմադրել է համանուն ֆիլմը, որը Օսկար մրցանակի է արժանացել որպես օտարալեզու լավագույն ֆիլմ[8]։

Ստացել է Օբի մրցանակ (1971), Թոնի մրցանակ (2011) և այլ մրցանակներ։ Հարվային Աֆրիկայի, ԱՄՆ-ի և Եվրոպայի մի շարք համալսարանների պատվավոր դոկտոր է[17][18][19][20][21][22]։
